B.Sc. Social Sciences Degree

The BSc Social Sciences degree is designed to enable students to combine three different Social Sciences disciplines in their studies. The minors are chosen from the following areas  

(a) Accounting  
(b) Economics  
(c) Management or Public Sector Management 
(d) Political Science  
(e) Sociology
(f)  Psychology

1.   One of:

EC10A Elements of Microeconomics or  
EC10B Elements of Macroeconomics
SY10A The Logic of Social Inquiry

2.    EC16B Introductory Statistics
3.    FD10H Rhetoric II: Writing for Special Purposes
4.    MS11A Fundamentals of Computers
5.    One of:

FD11A Caribbean Civilisation
FD12A Science, Medicine and Technology in Society

6-10.    Five (5) approved electives which should be chosen to ensure that the pre-requisites for the minors chosen in Levels II and III are normally satisfied.

    1.    Three minors (fifteen credits) drawn from the following subject areas (45 credits).  

                    (a)    Accounting

                    (f)    Psychology  

    2.   Any Five Level II or III courses (15 credits) of the student's choice.  These are not restricted to the Faculty of Social Sciences courses.

    Students holding non-Caribbean oriented Diploma degrees from any other recognised University or College may be exempted from First Year Social Sciences courses subject to the satisfaction of Departmental requirements for attainment of minimum Caribbean orientation.
