August 31, 2000 - UPCOMING EVENTS

With the resounding success of last year's Dinner and Ball, the Executive Committee of the FSSA Association have decided to give the Graduation Class of 2000 a rousing send off with a Graduation Dinner and Ball titled ‘Congratulating the Present, Celebrating the Past' at the Sherbourne Conference Centre at 8.00 p.m. on graduation night, October 21. Tickets are $65.00 per person.

This will be followed on Sunday, October 22 by a scenic bus ride. Buses will leave the Campus at 2.00 p.m. Tickets are available at a cost of $15.00 per adult and $8.00 per child.

All members of the Faculty of Social Sciences, past and present are invited to join us at these events.

Cake sale to be held during on September 13, outside the Teaching Complex.

May 3, 2000    -  ALUMNI ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE

The Faculty of Social Sciences Alumni Association officially launched last October has elected a new Executive to guide its work and development over the next year. Since the launch of the Association six months ago, an Interim Committee led by Cyril Burke has helped the group achieve a number of key objectives, including the drafting of its constitution.

Newly elected PRO Rose-Anne Maxwell told FSS Alumni News that a major focus of the Association over the next year will be providing support to students in the Faculty through the establishment of a scholarship programme and the development of a work attachment scheme, to help prepare them for their chosen careers.

Miss Kim Ramsay - Recording Secretary
Miss Kendra Holdip - Corresponding Secretary
Mrs. Sharon Caddle - Assistant Secretary Treasurer
Mrs. Rose-Anne Maxwell - Public Relations Officer
Mrs. Sandra Thompson - Floor Representative
Miss Natalie Hassell - Floor Representative
Mr. Derek Gibbs - Floor Representative

The new Ececutive will be installed at a ceremony on May 6, 2000 at 5.00 p.m. in LT1 of the Teaching Complex. Maxine McClean, one of the Faculty’s outstanding graduate and a former lecturer in the Faculty of Social Sciences, will deliver the Feature Address. On Sunday, May 7, at 8.00 a.m., the Alumni will worship at Christ the King Church, Rock Dundo, St. Michael.

All past students are encouraged to join us in these events.
